Diego Closes Temporarily

August 5, 2013

Tex-Mex restaurant Diego only operated on the corner of 14th and V streets NW for a little over two weeks but has already closed—at least temporarily. The official reason is that co-owner Michael Akarinam was not happy with the service and the food. Askarinam says he’s finalizing a contract with another “very well-known chef” and decided to close the business until the new chef settles in. He would not specify exactly how long Diego will be closed but that it will likely be several weeks. He hopes to have a better idea of the timeline next week. In the interim, Askarinam says the rest of the staff was let go, but he hopes to bring some of them back when the restaurant reopens. (WCP)
