Frager’s Fire

June 6, 2013

The beloved old-fashioned Frager’s Hardware on Capitol Hill was all but destroyed in a spectacular fire Wednesday night, despite the efforts of firefighters pouring 20,000 gallons of water a minute on the flames in a failed effort to save the 93-year-old landmark. The fire, which burned for hours, was declared under control before 11 p.m., though pockets of flames were still shooting up from the debris. Firefighters were expected to be at the scene near Eastern Market through the early morning. (WaPo)
