Monument Re-Opens

To celebrate, the re-opening of the Washington Monument, the National Park Service and the Trust for the National Mall announced today that the reopening ceremony will be hosted by none other than Today show weather anchor Al Roker. Roker — along with Secretary of the Interior Sally Jewell, NPS Director Jonathan Jarvis, philanthropist David Rubenstein (who paid for half of the $15 million Monument repairs), and National Mall and Memorial Parks Superintendent Bob Vogel — will reopen the Monument to the public during the celebration, which begins at 10 a.m. (dcist)
