Olympics Bid May Lift DC United

August 28, 2013

D.C. United officials say they would welcome plans to have the team’s proposed Buzzard Point soccer stadium be a part of a bid to bring the 2024 Olympics to the District. D.C. United spokesman Doug Hicks said representatives from nonprofit D.C. 2024 have not reached out to the organization about their exploration of a potential Olympic bid but that he is hopeful those conversations will take place as the group moves forward with its exploration. D.C. 2024 officially launched Tuesday and hopes to raise between $3 million and $5 million over the next two years as it pitches the District to the U.S. Olympic Committee. (WBJ)
