Speed Camera Installed in Glover Park

May 15, 2014

A D.C. neighborhood is getting a new tool to slow down drivers after a project that took away a car lane on a very busy avenue was scrapped. D.C. police installed a speed camera north of the Calvert Street intersection where Wisconsin Avenue is six lanes wide during rush hour: three north, three south. Neighborhood residents requested the speed cam after the District Department of Transportation ended a traffic-calming experiment that took away a car lane. Motorists, including D.C. Councilman Jack Evans, complained the new lane configuration caused gridlock.
