Washington’s Misery Rate

Bloomberg’s Misery Rate is an index that combines local increases in consumer prices with a city’s unemployment rate. The index ranks the Washington and Baltimore area 12th out of the top 15 for economic misery.

Combined, the Baltimore and Washington region has a jobless rate of 6.3 percent and a year-over-year- increase in consumer prices of 1.88 percent.
