DC is the End of the Line

May 23, 2014

DC may be getting a cool hotel.

Urban Turf previously reported that the Sydell Group, developers of the popular Ace Hotel and its grown-up cousin, the NoMad, are bringing their newest concept, The Line, to DC in 2016.

The hotel will be built into an existing church at 1780 Columbia Road NW in Adams Morgan (map). Behind the church, the developers will construct another, connected building on the site of the former City Paper headquarters to house most of the 220 guest rooms. The Line brand’s first hotel, in Los Angeles, opened in January, and enthusiasts of the Ace and NoMad will like what they see. The Los Angeles hotel was built to reflect the vibrancy of its Koreatown location, and the hotel’s offerings are built on a Korean theme. The Line DC will likely have a different vibe, though Sydell wouldn’t comment on the specifics.

One of the best features of the Sydell Group’s biggest brands? Their lobbies, which are more like a “living room for the neighborhood,” as Sydell Group founder Andrew Zobler told CoolHunting. That probably means good food, great coffee, tasty cocktails and lots of MacBooks are coming to Adams Morgan. And the hotel’s guests can expect modern rooms with an industrial yet laid-back aesthetic.
