Ice Cream Jubilee

January 27, 2014

With the freezing temperature and inches of snow on the ground, the last thing you’re probably thinking about is ice cream, but now you have something to look forward to when the mercury rises: Ice Cream Jubilee is opening a store in the Capitol Riverfront area this spring.

According to a release, the D.C.-based ice cream brand will open its first store in The Yards—the growing waterfront development —sometime this spring. Founder Victoria Lai, who originally moved to D.C. to become a lawyer, started Ice Cream Jubilee this summer as a “subscription” bike delivery service that also offered ice cream at local markets. Expect to find unique flavors like Thai iced tea, banana bourbon caramel, and peanut butter and jam.

Ice Cream Jubilee’s store will be located in 1,076 square foot location in the Lumber Shed on Water and Third streets SE. “Ice Cream Jubilee is the perfect complement to the growing array of places to eat and enjoy at The Yards,” Deborah Ratner Salzberg, president of Forest City Washington, said in a release. “It will be located at the edge of Yards Park which is the perfect setting to enjoy their imaginative ice creams and sorbets on a sunny day, or just about any day in my book.”
