Local Barista Wins Bronze in Sochi

February 21, 2014

In the Swiss women’s hockey team match against Sweden on Thursday for the Bronze Medal, the Swedes led 2-0 for a majority of the match. But then, soon after the third period started, the Swiss team scored two goals in a five minute period, quickly tying the score up. Momentum was shifting. But it wasn’t until 24-year-old Jessica Lutz—a barista at The Coffee Bar, one of the city’s chic new coffee shops—scored again, giving the Swiss team the first lead of the night. The Swiss team would go on to score two more goals, trumping the Swedes with a 4-3 win, but it was Lutz’ goal that turned the game around and ultimately led to their victory and a Bronze Medal at the 2014 Olympic Games in Sochi.
