The Post’s Neil Irwin Heads to the NYT

December 27, 2013

Neil Irwin, The Washington Post columnist and Wonkblog economics editor, has decamped to The New York Times to join its new data-driven journalism vertical, the Post announced on Thursday. Irwin’s departure comes in the wake of a report that Ezra Klein, Wonkblog’s editor, is in talks about leaving the Post to launch a new media venture. Klein is considering options both inside and outside the Post, according to the report. At the Times, Irwin will work under David Leonhardt, the former Washington bureau chief who is spearheading the new vertical. (Politico)
