Source Celebrates Year of the Horse

The Source by Wolfgang Puck will welcome the Year of the Horse with a two-week celebration paying tribute to the cultural and culinary traditions of the Chinese New Year. The restaurant will display several Chinese New Year Wishing Trees in its lounge, where guests can hang their wishes for the New Year. Every night, from January 31 to February 13, one guest will receive a gift from the tree, such as complimentary brunch for two or tickets to Chef Scott Drewno’s dumpling making class.

The festivities will kick off on Monday, January 27 in The Source lounge. The restaurant will welcome award-winning Sichuan Chef Peter Chang for a special reception from 6 p.m. – 9 p.m. Chef Chang, along with The Source’s Executive Chef Scott Drewno, will offer guests a range of Chinese dim sum specialties to ring in the New Year. Guests will also enjoy a celebratory punch – The Clydesdale – created by Head Bartender Woong Chang.

On Friday, January 31, the first official night of the Chinese New Year, Chef Drewno will offer a family style banquet menu as a nod to traditional New Year’s gatherings in China. Offered for one night only, the banquet menu will be tailored for group dining. Chef Drewno will also honor the New Year’s tradition of dumpling making by offering
a how-to class on Saturday, February 1 from 11 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Guests will begin the class with a complimentary
glass of the Clydesdale, followed by a guided dumpling demonstration. Head Bartender Woong Chang will teach guests to make The Source’s signature Chinese New Year punch, after which guests will enjoy a dumpling dim sum brunch.

On Monday, February 10 at 7 p.m., The Source will transform its dining room into a Night Market, replicating the atmosphere of a Chinese street food market for one night only. Five live action stations will be set up around the dining room serving traditional dishes symbolizing luck and prosperity, such as noodles, crescent-shaped dumplings and skewers. Guests will enjoy a special menu designed for the evening, with the first course inviting guests to peruse the “stalls” for food.

In addition to the special events above, The Source also will offer its signature Year of the Horse tasting menu as an additional option to its a la carte menu for guests nightly from Friday, January 31 until Thursday, February 13.
